12-year-old student stabs 16-year-old with knife during school fight (video)

LAS VEGAS– A 12-year-old girl has been arrested after stabbing a 16-year-old girl during a fight that took place at a middle school on Friday.

According to Andrea Katona, the principal of Thurman White Middle School, the older girl confronted the 12-year-old girl in a public area of the school’s campus. Neither of the girls’ names have not been released.

Students who witnessed the fight told reporters that the older girl, who attends another school, fought the Thurman White Middle School student to defend her younger sister. Reportedly, the girl’s younger sister and the 12-year-old had fought before.

Police said the 12-year-old was charged with battery with a weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, the Las Vegas Review-Journal said. The 16 year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Parents told Fox5 Las Vegas that they were horrified by the stabbing and said they rushed to the school immediately after hearing about the vicious attack.

Police are still investigating the attack.
