Technically, homosexuality is not a crime in Indonesia, but police in the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation have been cracking down on the gay community in massive numbers.

Reportedly, Indonesian police arrested 141 men in a raid on a gay sauna in Jakarta over the weekend.  The owner and several performers were arrested and detained as well, on Saturday, May 21.

The Guardian reported that police spokesperson Agus Yuwono confirmed the arrests, and said charges could be forthcoming under the country’s pornography law.

Fourteen gay men were arrested last month at hotel in Surabaya, after neighbors tipped off authorities, and two men were arrested in March and sentenced by Aceh’s sharia court to 85 lashes with a cane.
