Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday that Donald Trump has had an immediate impact on the reduction of illegal immigration, during an interview on the popular Fox News program “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
The Attorney General commented, “March was the lowest entrance of illegal immigrants in 17 years in this country, and that’s Donald Trump’s leadership.”
Sessions also addressed the ongoing problem of MS-13 gang members in the country and that authorities are doing everything they can to get them out of the now-40 states they are in. He added, “if we stay at it, we can devastate this organization, and that’s going to be our goal.”
Sessions further stated that MS-13 has been able to thrive and grow by pointing the finger of blame at previous immigration policies that allowed them to enter the U.S. illegally. The Trump administration will be enforcing the laws and securing the border to change that, Sessions promised.
“The government of El Salvador has designated MS-13 a terrorist organization. Would it be helpful for our government to do the same?” Carlson asked.
“I think so, perhaps. It could qualify for that,” Sessions responded.
