Today is July 24 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. 1. China Retaliates – Orders U.S. to Close Chengdu Consulate as Payback for Houston Move
The Wall Street Journal reports: As a deadline neared for China to vacate its Consulate in Houston, Beijing struck back with the latest in a series of near-daily blows in the downward spiral of the U.S.-China relationship.
On Friday, Beijing ordered the closure of the U.S. Consulate in the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu, retaliating against Washington’s decision earlier in the week to close China’s Houston mission, as well as American accusations that the Chinese diplomatic outpost was involved in economic espionage and visa fraud.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry similarly accused U.S. Consulate staff in Chengdu of having interfered in China’s internal affairs and damaged the country’s security interests.
Beijing set a 72-hour limit for the Chengdu Consulate to shut down, according to people briefed on the matter, the same amount of time Washington gave Chinese diplomats to vacate the Houston Consulate.

DML: I say we disconnect from China once and for all. This includes defaulting on all money we’ve borrowed from them. We can call it a fine for all the crap they do to us. Case closed. That’s what I would do if I was president.
2. Mayor Lori Lightfoot has Christopher Columbus statue removed from Chicago’s Grant Park in middle of the night
The Chicago Tribune reports: Mayor Lori Lightfoot ordered the controversial statue of Christopher Columbus removed from Chicago’s Grant Park overnight, in part to avoid another high-profile confrontation between police and protesters like the one that happened last week.
Not all Italian American leaders in Chicago are on board with the decision, but it has received the blessing of some groups, sources said. By taking the statue down, Lightfoot may draw criticism from those who believe she caved to activist demands.
The abrupt move in the dark of night was an about-face for Lightfoot, who has opposed taking down statues of the Italian explorer on the grounds that it would be erasing history.

DML: Mayor Lori Lightbrain can rip down all the statues she likes, but she will remain full of shit either way. She is trying to pretend that Black Lives Matter to her, but if they really mattered she’d do something about the murders carried out each day in her city. Blacks are killing blacks for sport in South Chicago, or so it seems.
3. CDC releases updated guidelines in favor of reopening schools
The Hill reports: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) late Thursday released new guidelines with a heavy focus on reopening schools in the fall, saying children are less likely to experience severe symptoms or spread the virus in schools.
Under the new guidelines, the CDC recommends that schools follow a certain level of precautions based on the amount of community transmission in their area. The CDC advises that unless there is substantial, uncontrolled community transmission in an area, schools should reopen to some extent.
“It is critically important for our public health to open schools this fall,” CDC Director Robert Redfield said in a statement announcing the guidelines. “School closures have disrupted normal ways of life for children and parents, and they have had negative health consequences on our youth. CDC is prepared to work with K-12 schools to safely reopen while protecting the most vulnerable.”
Together, we can open schools safely. This fall, school may look different in some communities b/c of #COVID19 – as face masks, distancing, & hand hygiene meet bookbags & homework. DML: Open the schools. It’s time to curb this scam designed to bring down Trump.
4. MLB teams kneel to back Black Lives Matter
CNBC reports: In a joint demonstration of support for the Black Lives Matter movement, players, managers and coaches of the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals knelt in unison before the opening game of the 2020 baseball season, then stood for the national anthem Thursday night.
“We wanted to do something united, something together,” Yankees slugger Aaron Judge said after New York’s 4-1 victory, called in the sixth inning because of rain at Nationals Park.
“We’ve got a lot of guys in this clubhouse with different beliefs, different feelings, different walks of life and from different countries,” Judge said. “And we want to respect all that and as a team we came to the decision to kneel right before the anthem.”

DML: Goodbye Major League Baseball. You suffer the same fate as the NFL.
5. Bill Gates warns that multiple doses of any coronavirus vaccine may be necessary
The Daily Mail reports: Bill Gates has warned that any vaccine against coronavirus could take several doses to be effective, as he described ‘serious mistakes’ made by the Trump administration and said some schools may not be back to normal until the fall of 2021.
And, in an interview with Norah O’Donnell on CBS News, aired on Wednesday night, the Seattle-based billionaire was critical of Donald Trump’s handling of the crisis.
On the issue of a vaccine, Gates said he had faith in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) finding a safe and reliable vaccine. But he warned that it would take ‘unbelievably big numbers’ of doses to wipe the virus out.
DML: Vaccine my ass. (Not literally, but figuratively.) I continue to say it with CAP LOCKS… I HAVE NOT BEEN SICK IN 18-MONTHS, and I HAVE NEVER WORN A MASK. I SHAKE HANDS, GIVE HUGS, SHARE CHEEK KISSES, and I WILL NOT TAKE A VACCINE. Either I am a freak of nature, or the immune system really works as designed.
PARTING WORDS: I will be biased in saying smart people use DML CBD. It helps me improve sleep, which helps boost the immune system. It diminished my chronic pain, and it does wonders in so many areas I cannot list them all. I have used it for 18-months and the success is overwhelming. My wife has used DML CBD for 12-months, and she has never felt better. Maybe it’s all by chance, maybe we are just lucky. If you believe that I would like to sell you a bridge that goes half way to Hawaii. Sarcasm aside, I prefer to think we are really smart. You can be smart too, go to DMLcbd.com now.
