In Gatlinburg, Tennessee, a two-year-old child was found dead after being left alone in a car overnight. The home where police found the dead 2-year-old baby belongs to Jerry Kirkman, mayor of Westmoreland, Tennessee.

Temperatures on Thursday and Friday reached an estimated high of 90 degrees. The child was stuck in the car from Thursday until Friday afternoon after police responded to a call of a child left in a vehicle.

Authorities haven’t released information in the case concerning the identity or gender of the child, the address where the child was found, how long the child was in the vehicle, and whether anyone has been arrested.

Kirkman, the mayor of the Sumner County town with a population of about 2,200, didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment.
