278 Days Later: Hillary Holds a Press Conference

Hillary Clinton’s last formal press conference was 278 days ago. However, all of that changed today when Clinton finally opened up and held her first one in the 2016 year. And of course, all the questions were lightweight and limited in the 10-minute spanning conference.

None of the questions focused on the issues that have plagued Clinton’s image for months: State Department emails on a private server, Clinton Foundation scandals, and the DNC email leaks. So what were the questions asked?

Poll numbers. Her presence at the NBC Commander in Chief national security forum. Her plans for ISIS (which were not detailed). And strategies involving how she will verbally combat Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential debates. Clinton was even asked about Gary Johnson’s Aleppo slip up from earlier Thursday morning.

The questions were tamed and polished, with no reporter truly challenging Clinton and her disqualifications for being President of the United States. However, Clinton had no problem pointing out a rather exaggerated claim that ISIS supports Trump:

“They have .. said they hope that Allah delivers America to Trump, they have said that they hope that he is the president because it would give more motivation to every Jihadi, someone who has insulted Muslims, has insulted a Gold Star family of incredibly heroic Capt. [Humayun] Kahn, someone who’s said that he doesn’t want to let Muslims from around the world even come to our country — that is a gift for ISIS. Look, I’m not asking for any special treatment, I know the road that I’m on, Ive been on it for 25 years,” she said. “I just get up every day and keep moving forward. I love this country, I will serve it with my entire heart, mind and soul.”
