Massachustes – Bloody domestic dispute
A woman fled from her burning home, naked and covered in blood, following a particularly violent domestic dispute, in Lynn, Mass.
According to reports, 54-year-old Michael Comeau violently attacked his 49-year-old girlfriend. The victim escaped and ran to her neighbor’s house for help.
“Her head was bashed in,” neighbor Debra Oblenes said. “She had a lot of gashes and blood on her face, head and leg.
Comeau allegedly attacked the woman with a knife, then used the weapon on himself. A fire was ignited in the basement during the incident, although it is unknown how it started.
Firefighters encountered unusual pets when they entered the house: potbellied pigs.
“We had a couple of pigs come out of the building,” Lynn District Fire Chief Arthur Richard said. “It’s something unusual you don’t see.”
The woman and Comeau were are both expected to recover.
Comeau is expected to face numerous charges including:
- Arson of a dwelling
- Attempted Murder
- Assault and battery causing serious bodily injury
- Aggravated rape
- Restraining order violation
Texas – Priest found guilty in decades old murder
A former priest was found guilty of murdering a South Texas teacher and beauty queen, in a conclusion to a murder case from the 1960’s
Police say 25-year-old Irene Garza was a member of the parish John Bernard Feit served at the time. The now 85-year-old Feit was accused of strangling Garza to death in McAllen, Texas after she visited Sacred Heart Catholic Church on April 16, 1960. Garza said she was going to confession that evening, but never returned home.
Prosecutors say elected and church officials suspected Feit of Garza’s murder, but covered it up to save the church’s reputation and elected officials careers.
Garza was Miss All South Texas Sweetheart 1958.
Oregon – Violent affair
A man who was having an affair with a married woman was violently assaulted in Corvallis, Ore. by the woman’s husband.
The incident happened at the Corvallis Nail Salon, where, on Dec. 5, the victim was found unconscious with a significant head injury.
Court documents reveal that the victim was the salon owner, and had been having an affair with the assailant’s wife at the nail salon earlier that evening.
The assailant, Than Duy Kim, used a bat to hit the victim in the head repeatedly, even after he’d fallen to the ground. Kim proceeded to slash the victim’s face with a knife.
Kim was arrested on charges of assault, attempted murder and unlawful use of weapon.
The victim had brain surgery and remains on life support.
According to KATU, Kim told police he felt “closure” after the assault.
Illinois – Unconscionable Act
Authorities say Dontrell Netter, 24, sexually assaulted a 90-year-old care home patient with dementia in 2015, after a certified nurse at the home arranged for he and others to do so.
Netter was convicted Wednesday of aggravated criminal sexual assault, as well as other charges, although he denied his involvement in sex crimes. Netter said he was tricked into visiting the facility.
The nurse in question, Channing Butler, and two other men pleaded guilty to various charges related to the patient’s abuse, and are now serving prison sentences.
Netter will be sentenced on Jan. 18 and faces 60 years in prison.
