After being previously abused by her parents, a 4-year-old little girl has now suffered second and third degree burns from the couple who were trusted as her guardians.
Miguel Hernandez, 41, and his wife Maria Teresa Lazcano, 30, have been arrested for burning the child’s feet in scalding hot water.
A nurse at a local elementary school in Alamo, Texas called authorities after observing that the 4-year-old girl’s feet were severely burned. The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment, then transferred to a burn treatment center further upstate, after doctors determined that she had second and third-degree burns on her feet.
When investigators from the sheriff’s department interviewed Hernandez, he admitted he had place the child in scalding water “out of frustration.”
Breitbart Texas learned that Hernandez is an illegal alien from Chiapas, Mexico. His wife is believed to have legal status in the U.S., but is from Veracruz, Mexico.
Lazcano admitted to investigators that she knew the child had been burned, but chose not to report the abuse and did not get medial help for the little girl.
The couple had reportedly been given guardianship of the girl after her own parents had abused her.
Hernandez and Lazcano are both being held in the Hidalgo County Jail, with bonds set at $100,000 for each.
