50-year-old singer Janet Jackson made a surprise announcement this week that she is indeed pregnant. She showcased her growing baby bump with PEOPLE magazine.
In April, Jackson and her husband Wissam Al Mana announced they were postponing her Unbreakable World Tour in May to focus on “planning” a family. Jackson has kept a low profile since then. She was last spotted shopping for baby buys at London’s Back in Action furniture store, confirming that she and Al Mana are expecting their first child. “
“She is super excited about her pregnancy and is doing extremely well,” a source close to the Jackson family told PEOPLE and other media outlets. “She actually feels very good about everything.”
“We thank God for our blessing,” says the star and sister of the late Michael Jackson. However, there are medical risks involved in having a baby that late in age. The following symptoms can occur when pregnant at 50: gestational diabetes; high blood pressure; premature birth; having a baby of low birth weight; needing a C-section; having a child with chromosome abnormalities; and experiencing a late stage miscarriage.
