Tough news for NBC Monday as the premiere of Megyn Kelly’s new show lost out to a CBS rerun of “60 Minutes” in total viewers.
While both stations were slaughtered by ABC with game 2 of the NBA Finals, NBC executives surely expected that a brand new show featuring a former Fox News host as popular as Megyn Kelly with a centerpiece featuring an interview with Putin would be able to garner more interest than a rerun of 60 minutes.
Both airing at 7 PM, “Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly” returned 0.8/4 and 6.1 million viewers. CBS’ “60 Minutes” received a 0.6/3 and 6.6 million viewers.
ABC was first in ratings with a 4.9 rating/18 share in the advertising sweet spot demo of 18-49 and in total viewers with an average of 13.6 million, according to preliminary numbers.
A small silver lining is that “Sunday Night” garnered more viewers of the ages 18-54, but it remains a disappointing night for Kelly’s new program.
