Saudi Arabia’s security forces shot dead a suicide bomber outside of the US consulate service in the port city of Jeddah, local media reported. The attacker was killed while trying to detonate himself as Americans kicked off 4th of July celebrations.

Local news outlets say no other deaths were immediately reported. The bomber was apparently headed in a car toward a mosque that is near the U.S. consulate in Jeddah. Most of the consulate’s staff have reportedly moved offices to a new location.

Two police officers were injured during the attack, Arab News reported.

A 2004 militant attack on the U.S. consulate in Jeddah left nine people dead.
