Wednesday commemorated the 75th anniversary of the assaults on Pearl Harbor that propelled the United States into World War II.

It was likewise the second day of the Pearl Harbor Invitational, a two-day basketball showcase on FS1, organized at Bloch Arena on the actual base which fell to Japanese strengths that day in 1941.

Peter DuPre’, a 97 year-old World War II veteran who served as a medic treating the wounded during the Battle of the Bulge, conveyed to the crowd his version of the Star-Spangled Banner on a harmonica.
