The AARP lobbying group has gone on the attack against the Republican healthcare bill, in an effort to stop the repeal and replacement of Obamacare.
The organization has reportedly taken out radio ads in key swing states, targeting Republican senators Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), Dean Heller (R-Nev.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), and Rob Portman (R-Ohio).
All it will take to defeat the bill is just three Republican senators voting “no.” AARP is trying their best to make that happen.
The vote isn’t expected to take place until mid-July at the earliest, but the radio ads are scheduled to run through the month of July, The Hill reported.
The ads are targeted to portray how the elderly will be devastated. One woman in the ad says she is worried about how the bill will affect her sick, elderly father. “It’s bad enough that this healthcare bill will raise my costs. But it could cost my dad everything,” the woman says.
