The possibility of a presidential run by Oprah Winfrey in 2020 has brought back a story that came out at the end of November, of a young actress who accused Winfrey of helping to dupe her into being sexually molested by Harvey Weinstein.

Oprah Winfrey was the talk of the town on Monday, after her speech at the Golden Globes Awards Sunday night rocked liberal audiences and sparked news outlets to speculate (and hope) that she might run for president in 2020.

Accepting the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, Winfrey talked about the #Metoo movement, despite the fact that she has been good friends with Weinstein for three decades – during the same time period he has been accused of tricking young women into thinking that he would help their acting career so that he could use them sexually. On Tuesday, an incriminating photo resurfaced on social media that shows Weinstein looming over a nervous-looking young woman as Winfrey reassuringly holds her hand.

“We all know that the press is under siege these days,” Winfrey said at the Golden Globes, “but we also know that it is the insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye to corruption and to injustice, to tyrants, and victims, and secrets, and lies.”

At the conclusion of her speech, she declared, “I want all the girls watching here now to know that a new day is on the horizon, and when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women.”

Aspiring British actress Kadian Noble told Page Six back in November about how Harvey Weinstein allegedly used Oprah Winfrey and model Naomi Campbell to help fool her into thinking he would help her with her career — only to use her for sex.

The 31-year-old actress recalls how she was so impressed when she first met Weinstein at an event in London because he was hanging out with model Naomi Campbell and had megastar Oprah “swinging off his arm.”

“I thought, obviously, this man has something amazing in store for me,” she said during a moving press conference in Manhattan she held with her attorney to discuss the sex trafficking lawsuit she filed against Weinstein in Manhattan federal court.

Weinstein used promises of career advancement to lure the actress to his hotel room in Cannes, France, where he forced himself on her, she said.

“I felt completely played,” she said.

She blames Weinstein for destroying her acting dreams and said she has since reported her case to the NYPD.

Noble’s story went largely unnoticed until Oprah’s impassioned speech on Sunday night against sexual harassment in Hollywood put her in the spotlight and simultaneously reminded the public of her close relationship with Weinstein. Social media users pegged her as a glaring hypocrite, posting damning photos of Winfrey with her tongue in Weinstein’s ear along with a slew of other photos that make it clear the two are dear friends.

Noble’s lawsuit says that Weinstein’s practice of luring aspiring actresses to his casting couch with promises of career advancement makes him no better than a seedy sex trafficker. But it should also be noted that he usually had a little help from his friends.
