Debra Messing, who plays one of the four main characters on “Will & Grace,” joined her fellow cast members on Megyn Kelly’s new NBC daytime show, “Megyn Kelly TODAY. ” They were there to talk about the reboot of the show, but now Messing says she regrets the appearance (video below).
Messing’s comments came via social media. The actress, who plays Grace on the sitcom, was responding to an Instagram follower. The follower, ivor pine, asked why the outspoken Democrat would appear on Kelly’s show, calling in a “fail.”
“Pine” gave no explanation as to why it was a fail, however she may have felt that Kelly, who was once a part of Fox News, was not a supporter of the liberal agenda as Messing is.
Messing said she’d only been aware that the group would be on the “Today” show, and that the appearance with Kelly as host was a surprise.
She wrote: “Honestly I didn’t know it was MK until that morning. The itinerary just said Today Show appearance. Regret going on. Dismayed by her comments.”
The comment referred to was explained by another follower, tracylennon, who wrote: “[Kelly] asked a super fan/guest if Will ‘made him gay’ and thinks the ‘gay thing’ is going to work out well.”
According to Breitbart, Kelly was denounced online because she brought the “Will & Grace” fan on during the segment. She asked him if he was “inspired to become gay and a lawyer because of Eric McCormack’s character, a gay attorney,” the news site writes.
Another follower, denniscanty, wrote: “I was in the audience for Megyn’s inaugural show. When the cameras weren’t rolling, you didn’t seem all that ‘dismayed.’ I think it’s a shame you are beating up on both a fellow NBC employee and another woman.”
