“We are no longer drinking the Democrat Kool-aid.”
“Most major movements happen by going against the grain,” says Katrina Rodgers, daughter of the founder of an historically black church in Charlotte, North Carolina that has come out in full support of Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Members of the Antioch Road to Glory International Ministries say they feel they are doing what’s best for their community. Rodgers said she believes policies supported by Hillary Clinton have hurt the black community.
“It had a rippling effect,” Rodgers said. “Not only did the prison population increase but it brought about division in our homes.”
She said Trump’s promise to create jobs will make a difference. “Providing jobs would automatically have a rippling effect on the economy which would have effects on crime rates which would have its effect on families.”
The church is taking a beating on social media over their support for Trump. “Stupid, idiots, a disgrace, disgusting human beings, dumb, ignorant, brainwashed…” They’re being called every name in the book on their Facebook page for standing for Trump.
Sunday, August 7, the church held a different kind of service – it was all pro-Trump, and Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump was a guest speaker.
For those questioning the legality of hosting a political event, Pastor Thomas Rodgers said his church does not have nonprofit status and can say whatever it wants.
Another guest speaker was standing his ground as well.
“We are no longer drinking the Democrat Kool-Aid,” Mark Burns, pastor of Harvest Praise and Worship Center, said at Sunday’s event. Burns was also a speaker at the Republican National Convention.
CNN interviewed the Pastor and his wife, trying to pin them down, and looked shocked when he proclaimed Clinton as dangerous and reckless.
