This week, JetBlue Airways is delivering New York City pizza from Harlem to customers’ doorsteps in Los Angeles — for less than $20.
According to JetBlue’s website, the airline will deliver 350 pizzas from Patsy’s Pizzeria of East Harlem from Wednesday through Friday, May 9-11, to “select areas in LA,” with orders being accepted on a first come, first served basis.
JetBlue began taking orders at midnight Wednesday, allowing customers to select a 16-inch cheese pizza for $12 or a 16-inch pepperoni pizza for $15. Customers are able to track their orders on JetBlue’s website as their pizza makes its way from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport.
Customers are limited to ordering one pizza per day, but are encouraged to order each day of the limited-time promotion, with orders being accepted beginning at midnight each night.
Once the pizzas arrive in LA, delivery will occur between 7 and 10 p.m. each night, with JetBlue covering the tip, delivery fee and taxes as part of the deal, M Live reported.
JetBlue noted, “Yes, the pizza is made fresh every day at Patsy’s Pizzeria of East Harlem and baked in their coal-fired oven. From there, it will be packed for the flight. Upon arrival at LAX, the pizza will be brought to a kitchen and prepped for final delivery so that it’s fresh and delicious upon delivery to your door.”
The airline said it selected pizza from Patsy’s Pizzeria in East Harlem because it is credited by many for popularizing what people perceive as New York Style and for being the first to sell it by the slice.
LA is the exclusive beneficiary of JetBlue’s pizza delivery promotion, with the airline announcing that “there are no current plans for pizza deliveries outside of these dates (May 9-11).”
