Al Sharpton believes Bill Maher needs to be “held accountable” for saying the N-word in an interview with Republican Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse on his late night HBO show Real Time.
While claiming to be friends with Maher, the more Sharpton was pressed on the incident the more adamant he became in his TMZ interview that it was a disturbing example of casual racism.
“How do you get a pass for saying something like that,” Sharpton asked. “They weren’t even talking about race! He just out of nowhere took this–you felt you got so comfortable with us that you can denigrate us?”
Sharpton believes more than a simple apology is in order.
“I’m very disappointed in Bill and I think to just say it and apologize and not have some accountability is not enough,” Sharpton stated. See his video below:
