In an interview with the New York Times, actor Alec Baldwin discussed his infamous portrayal of President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. Baldwin not only reveals how much he’s paid for each skit, but also claims that he believes his portrayal of Trump led to the Republican businessman winning the election.
“I do recognize that that is a possibility,” Baldwin told the Times, when asked if he believes his parody of Trump helped him become president-elect. “But I think that now that he is the president, we have an obligation — as we would if it was him or her — to dial it up as much as we can.”
Baldwin then tells the New York Times he is only paid $1,400 to mockingly portray Trump per skit. In preparation for his role, Baldwin says he watches “hours of rallies and campaign appearances.”
Baldwin’s portrayal of Trump has attracted one particular critic: Trump himself. See tweet below:
Just tried watching Saturday Night Live – unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can’t get any worse. Sad
