Amid all the destruction from the fire in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, a heartwarming story has emerged of an American flag found beneath the rubble.
WBIR reported that Lenoir City Police Officer Jordan Henderson found the flag, cleaned it off, and started to take it with him, then he saw a better way to give it a place of honor.
The Gatlinburg welcome sign was still standing, half-destroyed by the fire. Office Henderson decided to hang the flag on the sign as a tribute to the city.
In the following video of the interview with Officer Henderson, WBIR incorrectly reported that he was a Gatlinburg officer, but later corrected that on their Facebook page to say he is a Lenoir City police officer.
The fire has covered over 15,000 acres and the death toll has now risen to 7.
