American Teen Killed During Mexican Nightclub Shooting

An American teenager has been named as one of five people killed during a shooting at a beachfront nightclub in Cancun, Mexico.

Alejandra Villanueva Ibarra, 18, from Denver, Colorado, was trampled to death as pandemonium broke loose and people tried to escape the gunfire at the Blue Parrot Nightclub.

In addition to the five people killed, fifteen others were wounded during the shooting that occurred Monday around 2:30 a.m.

In the description of a GoFundMe set up by Alejandra’s brother, Aaron Martinez, he says his sister was in college and was working to sustain the “home of a single mother with two younger siblings due to my mom being very ill.”

“She was very young with a life ahead of her,” Martinez added.
