Another FOX host is leaving the network

Another Fox News host is out, but this time by her own design. Meghan McCain, contributor and co-host of “Outnumbered,” is leaving the network to pursue “other things.” She is apparently leaving on good terms with FOX, according to her statement and one made by the network.

Ms. McCain made her announcement in a series of two Twitter posts. When combined, they read: “I’m so thankful to Fox News for the chance to be on OutnumberedFNC but I’m leaving to focus on other things, I have no doubt the show will continue to do well and wish all my friends and colleagues at the network nothing but success.”

In turn, the network released a statement to Variety which read:

“Meghan has been a valuable part of ‘Outnumbered’ and the Fox News team. We’re sad to see her go, but we wish her all the best.”

Ms. McCain, the eldest daughter of failed presidential candidate and current U.S. Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.), has worked as a contributor at FOX since 2015, while her hosting duties began in November. Prior to that, she hosted a talk show called “TakePart Live” on Pivot.

Ms. McCain has been spending time with her father in Arizona since he was diagnosed with brain cancer in July, following a procedure to remove a blood clot above his left eye.

“Outnumbered” is an afternoon program on FOX that brings in a different male guest each day to comment on various topics, and it has a rotating group of female contributors with which the guest must contend.

On Twitter, fellow Fox News host Trish Regan tweeted a message to Ms. McCain, following the announcement. She wrote: “I’m sad to hear this. You will be very missed here.”

Fox News has lost a series of its hosts recently, starting with Bill O’Reilly in April, then Bob Beckel in May.

In September, popular hosts Eric Bolling and Clayton Morris both left the network.

O’Reilly and Bolling were fired, amid rumors of sexual scandal, while Beckel was fired for making an “insensitive remark to an African-American employee,” according to the network.

Morris, like Ms. McCain, left the network on his own.
