Anti-Trump lawmaker says he misses Obama’s ‘intellect’ and ‘integrity’

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.) wished former President Barack Obama a happy birthday on Friday in a tweet that contained a slight towards current U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Happy Birthday @Barack Obama. We miss your intellect and integrity in the WH, and will continue fighting to preserve your progressive legacy,” wrote Schiff, a top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

Schiff, who’s a member of the committee probing the Trump campaign about alleged collusion with Russia, has been heavily public with his disdain towards Trump.

Last month, after Trump tweeted that Schiff is “sleazy” for his role in the probe, the congressman responded by calling Trump’s comments and actions “beneath the dignity” of his office.

“With respect Mr. President, the problem is how often you watch TV, and that your comments and actions are beneath the dignity of the office,” Schiff tweeted.

Within hours of the Twitter feud between Trump and Schiff, the Democrat began cashing in. After Trump also called Schiff  “biased” in the tweet, Schiff began fundraising off of the Twitter attack for his campaign.

Schiff launched a second tweet, telling followers he was “attacked” and asked donors to “chip in” to help him resist Trump: “Trump attacked me for doing my job. While he tweets, I’m resisting his damaging agenda. Chip in to stand with me.”

The site echoes Schiff’s tweet, stating: “President Trump just attacked Adam on Twitter for doing his job. Chip in to show Adam you have his back as he keeps fighting to save our healthcare and resist Trump’s agenda.”

The California lawmaker was among a number of Democrats and celebrities to wish Obama a happy 56th birthday on Friday. However, President Trump used his birthday wishes for the U.S. Coast Guard, which was established on August 4th back in 1790.
