Anti-Trump Propane Dealer Isn’t Licensed

Last week, local propane dealer Michael Turner, who operates Turner LP Gas Service in Skowhegan, Maine, left an aggressively charged company voicemail stating he won’t sell to anyone who voted for President-elect Donald Trump. It turns out, Turner is not supposed to be selling gas to anyone in general; it’s been learned that Turner is not officially licensed to sell gas.

According to state officials, Turner has been delivering and dispensing gas without a state license for at least two years. The last time he was on record as a licensed gas dispenser was 2012, the year his license expired. President of the Maine Energy Marketers Association Jamie Py publicly stated it is “a big liability” not to have licensing, as there are safety provisions in licenses.

“A license ensures that a licensee meets standards established in Maine law and rules,” Department of Professional and Financial Regulation spokesperson Doug Dunbar said. “Fuels can be volatile, so requirements have been created. In order to receive a propane and natural gas technician’s license, an applicant must take a national training program.”

In Turner’s voicemail, he says: “If you voted for Donald Trump for president, I will no longer be delivering your gas. Please find someone else.” Since then, reviews on Google of Turner’s company have virtually all been negative. One reviewer wrote, “I would never let a person go cold based on their political affiliations. Thanks for affirming why voting Trump was the right choice.” A Facebook page called “Dump: Turner LP Gas of Skowhegan, Maine” has been created as well.
