On Saturday, dozens of anti-Trump protesters chose to dress up as witches and march through Balboa Park in San Diego, California.
Calling it the Fire the Fool rally, participants assembled at El Prado and Village Drive and proceeded to dance around a giant caldron. Many in the bewitched crowd chanted, “Trump is a fool, Trump is a clown, we are here to shut him down!”
“I saw these witches going by and thought, ‘We need to follow them and see what’s going on,’” said Patrick O’Brien, a tourist from North Carolina.
Similar April Fool’s Day protests occurred in L.A., New York, New Orleans, Boston, and Seattle.
“It’s called ‘Fire the Fool’ because we are unhappy with what’s going on in our government, particularly in our White House. It’s very scary,” said one of the protesters. “He needs to listen to the people. We elected him and we can fire him.”
