A Tempe, Arizona couple woke to the terrifying sight of a stranger holding their 2-year-old daughter Thursday morning.
Upon finding the man, the wife contacted police and informed the dispatcher of the burglar and that her husband was currently fighting with the suspect.
According to ABC 15, police responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m. where the woman informed the officers that she was awakened by her daughter’s cry coming from another room. When she went to check on her child, she noticed that the door was closed to the bedroom – which was not normal.
The husband saw the suspect holding the child in the living room, where a fight ensued between the two men.
ABC 15 has reported that the suspect, 34-year-old Oren Cohen of Glendale, was tased by police when he attempted to flee the scene.
Cohen was believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Although information regarding his intentions in the incident have not been released, he is expected to be charged with burglary and aggravated assault.
