Alec Baldwin, who months ago said he would not continue with his impersonation of Trump, failed to keep to his word Saturday night. The liberal actor, who is often outspoken when it comes to criticizing the president, appeared on the premiere of “Saturday Night Live.”
The opening skit included Baldwin acting as Trump in the Oval Office with White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The two covered the NFL kneeling issue, and how the president handled recovery efforts in Puerto Rico after the U.S. territory was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Maria.
“Mr. president, I gotta be honest. This is going to get waaay worse,” Aidy Bryant, playing Sanders, tells Alec Baldwin’s President Trump after a mock phone call with the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the show’s cold open late Saturday.
“I like you Sarah, you’re a straight shooter. That’s why you’ve outlasted Sean Spicer, Scaramucci, Bannon, Priebus, Gorka, Flynn, Yates and Tom Price,” Baldwin says.
