During the terrorist attacks in Paris back in winter of 2015, the American band known as Eagles of Death Metal was performing at the Bataclan Concert Hall when ISIS terrorists started gunning down French citizens. While 89 people were killed, the band members managed to survive. Lead singer Jesse Hughes believes the terror attacks may have been coordinated.
“There’s no denying the terrorists were already inside, and they had to get in somehow,” Hughes told Gavin McInnes in Taki’s Magazine last week. “During the shooting I went outside and the backstage door was propped open. How did that happen?”
Hughes is known to be a pro-gun Trump supporting conservative, and claimed he saw Muslims celebrating the night of the attacks in Paris. Hughes is adamant that political correctness is making the terrorism situation worse in Europe. These comments have apparently landed Hughes in hot water with musical festivals, who don’t share his opinion. As a result, two French music festivals The Rock en Seine and the Cabaret Vert festival have banned the band from performing at their venues.
For Hughes, he stands by his comments after bearing witness to the attacks unfold before him. “I had pieces of teeth and human bone pulled out of my face [at the hospital],” he said when asked about the horrors of the attack. “A girl got shot right next to me by the shooter at the top of the stairs who I had met earlier. She stepped one step in front of me and her head just exploded. It blew pieces of her teeth and skull into my face.”
