Bannon: White House more divided than any other administration in history

Republican leaders in Congress and the White House will be “one big, happy family” if the GOP finally aligns with President Donald J Trump’s agenda, but former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon doesn’t expect that to happen.

In an interview with the Washington Post on Saturday, Steve Bannon said, “If the Republican Party on Capitol Hill gets behind the president on his plans and not theirs, it will all be sweetness and light, be one big, happy family.”

But Bannon goes on to say he doesn’t think conservatives will be pleased if the GOP continues to bash the president they elected.   He points out that voters don’t like Republican lawmakers thwarting President Trump’s efforts at fulfilling his many campaign promises, including repealing and replacing Obamacare.

Bannon, who left the White House on Friday afternoon following his resignation to the president on August 7, returned to leading the conservative online media company Breitbart on Friday evening.  Bannon pledged that he was returning to the popular website, and would “go to war” for Trump’s conservative agenda.

President Trump praised Bannon on Twitter hours after his departure from the White House, commenting that at Breitbart, Bannon would be “competition” for the mainstream “fake news” media.

“Steve Bannon will be a tough and smart new voice at [Breitbart News]… maybe even better than ever before. Fake News needs the competition!” Trump tweeted out on Friday.

During the interview, Bannon described Trump’s administration as dangerously divided on policy matters. He said, “No administration in history has been so divided among itself about the direction where it should go.”

Dennis Michael Lynch, CEO of DML NEWS, said this about Bannon’s comment:  “The reason why there is such a huge divide is because the president’s daughter, Ivanka, and her liberal husband Jared Kushner, hold the seats next to the president during dinner time.”
