Kathy Griffin’s self-described “artistic” photo shoot of herself holding the severed “head” of President Donald Trump outraged the nation Tuesday – and it also came with heartbreaking consequences to Trump’s children.

Trump’s youngest son, 11-year-old Barron, has been especially affected, reports TMZ, as he thought it was real.

Barron was home watching television when when he saw the sickening image reported in the news – a photo of comedian Kathy Griffin smugly holding what appeared to be the severed head of his father by the hair, dripping with fake blood.

When Barron saw the image, he reportedly panicked and started screaming, “Mommy, Mommy!” He thought his father had actually been killed.

One source reporting the incident explained, “He’s 11. He doesn’t know who Kathy Griffin is and the head she was holding resembled his dad.”

The president lashed back at Griffin on Twitter Wednesday morning, saying, “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!”

Barron’s mother, First Lady Melania Trump, also publicly stated her disgust about the matter, saying, “as a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing.  When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it.”
