On Wednesday, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson was trapped in a malfunctioned elevator for 20 minutes at an apartment complex in Miami.

Dr. Carson and his wife were visiting the Courtside Family Apartments Wednesday morning when the elevator stopped working with the two still trapped inside.

According to a local NBC reporter and a Miami Herald reporter, firefighters soon arrived and freed Carson and his wife.

Retired NBA player Alonzo Mourning was present at the scene with Carson, though he was not in the trapped elevator.

Carson later sent out a tweet of gratitude to the firefighters and Miami Police Department.
