Berkeley Professor Makes Outrageous Claim Regarding Riots

Despite evidence that the riots at U.C. Berkeley were provoked and initiated by left-wing activists, Robert Reich, the Labor Secretary under Bill Clinton and a Berkeley professor, is suggesting it was right-wing plants who were responsible for the violence and destruction.

“I was there for part of last night, and I know what I saw. Those people were not Berkeley students. They were outside agitators,” Reich said during a panel discussion with CNN’s Don Lemon. “There are rumors that they were right-wingers, they were part of a group that organized and ready to create the tumult and danger you saw that forced the police to cancel the event.”

Reich continued to tell Lemon that all he heard on this were “rumors” and said he couldn’t confirm if the rumors were factual.

“I’ve heard — again I don’t know what to say factually — but heard there’s some relationship there between these people and the right wing, and the right-wing movement that is affiliated with Breitbart News.”

The Daily Caller said statements from left-wing, socialist groups the day of and day after the riots prove the riots were, in fact, provoked and initiated by left-wing activists.

Refuse Fascism, a left-wing group founded by Princeton professor Cornell West, released a statement on their website that said, in part, “Last night, thousands of students, professors and others protested the appearance and organizing rally of Milo Yiannopoulos, a major fascist operative, shutting it down. This was righteous and much more like this is needed.”

Prior to Milo’s speech, the group encouraged protesters to shut the event down.

Videos of the riots show Trump supporters getting viciously attacked. One young, female Trump supporter can be seen being sprayed in the face with pepper spray, and another supporter is seen beaten in the street with a shovel.

Despite the statements and brutal videos, Reich stuck to his rumors, saying, “Berkeley opened its biggest auditorium to this right-wing Breitbart news character — this hateful odious person — and said free speech is the most important thing we stand for, and it was these outsiders who caused police to come in and cancel it.”
