Bernie Sanders torched on Twitter for ‘worshipping wealth’ tweet

Vermont senator Bernie Sanders was viewed as a champion for the poor during his failed presidential run. But he received a scathing reaction on Twitter to a post he made about “worshipping wealth,” and was soundly reminded that he himself is a very wealthy man.

“We are living in a nation which worships wealth rather than caring for the poor. I don’t think that is the nation we should be living in,” Sanders tweeted.

The former Democratic party candidate had to endure the ire of the public on the popular social media platform, having his ownership of three homes (including a recently-purchased $600,000 Vermont lakefront property) and the paltry 13.5 percent tax rate he paid in 2014.

Sanders has been very critical of President Donald Trump’s new economy plan and calling it a budget that will only benefit the top 1%.
