Beverly Hills plastic surgeon on the run after defrauding insurance companies of millions

Rancho Mirage plastic surgeon David Morrow is on the run, having evaded law enforcement officers for more than three months. Now, the Medical Board of California has revoked his license, as the doctor falsely billed insurance companies for four years.

According to authorities, Morrow, 73, falsely described patients’ cosmetic needs so he could bill insurance companies for the surgeries in a fraudulent scheme. The insurance companies’ losses are estimated at $3.5 million.

Morrow and his wife, Linda, are accused of not only defrauding insurance companies but also pressuring patients to have unnecessary procedures, altering medical records, and charging insurance companies for surgeries they never performed, according to the Desert Sun.

Prosecutors say the couple involved their unwitting patients in the fraud, as they were told their elective surgeries were covered by insurance, while the scheming couple secretly billed them as “medically necessary.”

A federal grand jury indicted David Morrow on more than two dozen counts, including mail fraud and allegations making or subscribing to a false tax return, both of which he admitted to doing when he signed a plea agreement.

The Morrows sold their Beverly Hills home, collecting around $9.5 million, and several vehicles, according to investigators. Then, the couple vanished.

Morrow did not appear at his sentencing hearing in September, and his current whereabouts are still unknown. He is assumed to be hiding from law enforcement authorities.

Linda Morrow, who was scheduled to go to trial in November, is also missing and is assumed to be on the run.
