Eyeing a possible run for president in 2020, former Vice President Joe Biden commented during a speech on Thursday that he never thought Hillary Clinton was the best candidate to run for president.
“I never thought she was a great candidate. I thought I was a great candidate,” said Biden, adding, “No man or woman should announce for the presidency unless they genuinely believe that for that moment in the nation’s history they are the most qualified person to deal with the issues facing the country.”
Claiming that he’s focused on his family at the moment, Biden said that if conditions are right and it looks like he’s the best candidate in 2020, “I may very well do it.”
Then he walked those comments back a bit, adding, “Could I? Yes. Would I? Probably not.”
