Big bucks required to attend Mayor de Blasio birthday bash

Mayor Bill de Blasio is jumpstarting his re-election campaign in a big way with a fundraiser that is being touted as his “birthday celebration” that is charging up to $25,000 a seat.

The date is May 9 and the place is Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan with a general admission price tag of $100. But to find yourself at the actual reception for the New York City mayor’s 56th birthday, you need to donate at least $1,000. The donation amount to be a host is $10,000 and having the privilege of an “event chair” listing will cost $25,000.

The much-maligned de Blasio ran on a ticket of income inequality in 2013, but with those rates, there is little chance that the average voter will be able to attend. Celerities such as Cynthia Nixon and Alan Cummings, however, are listed as host committee members.
