While many famous faces declined an offer to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, one committed musician is already reaping the benefits of going against the grain.
After rumors swirled about who would potentially perform for Trump, the wait is over. Jackie Evancho, a runner-up on the show, “America’s Got Talent,” signed on to sing the national anthem at the historical event.
The 16-year-old has been performing since she was a young child. Aside from her “America’s Got Talent” notoriety, since 2009 she’s released six studio albums, three live albums, one EP, and 31 singles, according to Cosmopolitan.
Evancho has even performed for sitting president, Barack Obama in the past.
Since committing to sing for Trump, Evancho’s music sales have skyrocketed.
According to TMZ, her digital album sales have quadrupled and retailers have had to restock several times to keep up with customer demands.
Evancho’s song, “Someday at Christmas,” is #1 on Billboard’s Classical Albums chart as well.
She recently told the Today Show, “I’m so excited. It’s going to be awesome. I felt really honored to have the chance to perform for the President again.”
