Thursday on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” Bill O’Reilly interviewed a Swedish defense and national security adviser…, or did he?
According to the Washington Post, the guest purporting to be a Swedish official is actually an individual unknown to the Swedish government or its armed forces.
Nils Bildt was interviewed with Swedish journalist Anne-Sofie Naslund to speak about Sweden’s immigration problems.
The Post reports that Bildt came to America in 1994 from Sweden and is the founder of a company named Modus World LLC which conducts “consulting and management in kidnap and ransom situations.”
Bildt defended himself, telling the publication that not only did he not choose the title that came up under his image, but he explained to the show he was an independent analyst.
Fox News went on the defensive and stated that Bildt was “pre-interviewed and was recommended by numerous sources.”
The executive producer of the show, David Tabacoff said, “Our booker made numerous inquiries and spoke to people who recommended Nils Bildt and, after pre-interviewing him and reviewing his bio, we agreed that he would make a good guest for the topic that evening.”
Bill O’Reilly will be on the air Monday to address the issue.
