New York police are searching for a couple who ambushed a 75-year-old man Wednesday afternoon in broad daylight, leaving him unconscious on the sidewalk.
Surveillance cameras caught the attack, in front of a Salvation Army store at 2:12 p.m., when a black man and woman were walking together at 120 W. 14th Street in Manhattan. The man ran up to the elderly victim, punched him in the back of the head, then kicked him in the face after he fell to the ground, while his female partner stood by on the lookout.
The motive wasn’t robbery – nothing was stolen from the victim, who was taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Police say the male suspect had black hair with a red streak in it. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, beige pants and a black and gray backpack. The female suspect was last seen wearing a green dress with a hood over her head and black sneakers.
