Black students attack whites in Philly teen subway brawl

An after school melee broke out on Thursday at a Philadelphia subway station involving teenagers from nearby high schools that was recorded on a number of cell phone videos. Footage clearly shows black students attacking their white counterparts, in one case of five-against-one.

One clip that has been posted on social media depicted five male black teens wearing backpacks pummeling a white male, continuing the assault even after he was on the ground. A few female white teens wearing what appear to be school uniforms then intervene to help and the blacks run off.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, or SEPTA, stated that the incident began outside in the street as a icy snowball fight and was between students from two different schools.

“I have to tell you, this is becoming a daily event throughout the city, either (on) street corners or outside schools or on the SEPTA system,” SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel told Fox29 in Philadelphia.

One witness interviewed said when the students get out of school and hit the subway, she doesn’t feel safe.  “When they get out of school, all the cursing, fighting, smoking on the bus, spitting everywhere. I have a 4-year-old son,” said Sade Lisojo from Northeast Philadelphia.

SEPTA police are investigating and looking to make arrests.
