The pilot of A U.S. Navy Blue Angels jet died in a crash Thursday afternoon during a training flight in the Smyrna, Tennessee area. That crash was on the same day of the crash of an Air Force Thunderbirds jet near Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.
The Thunderbirds are the Air Force elite flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels are the elite flight demonstration team for the Navy. Very strange.
The Blue Angels were practicing to perform at an airshow in Smyrna this weekend. The team had done a flyover in downtown Nashville earlier in the day.
The pilot in the Thunderbirds crash in El Paso County ejected safely and was reported to be OK.
