On Friday in Brownsville, Texas, Border Patrol agents chased smugglers straight into the Rio Grande river.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents discovered a Ford Ranger loaded with bundles of narcotics traveling near the Rio Grande. In an ensuing chase, Border Patrol agents followed the pickup truck as it was driving north along the river.
The attempt to escape led the driver of the Ford to reverse the vehicle straight into a riverbank. The smugglers then tried to recover around forty bundles of narcotics from the rapidly submerging vehicle before swimming back to Mexico.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release said: “The agents’ vigilance and quick response prevented the narcotics from entering our country.”
