I am really pissed off, and so should you be over a report coming out of the Washington Times this week.

According to the WT and a member of the Border Patrol, the Trump administration is “catching and releasing” illegal aliens as they cross the border into Texas.

The catch-and-release program was an Obama-era program that flooded the United States with more illegal aliens than we know what to do with. Not only does this create unfair working conditions for American workers, but it was proven to result in MS-13 gang bangers getting a bus ticket to Anywhere, USA.

The national security impact, the drain on our schools, jobs market, welfare… the list goes on and on and on.

Here is what the WT reported, in part: “The Trump administration reinstated a de facto catch-and-release policy for illegal immigrants nabbed crossing the border in Texas, with Border Patrol agents being told Wednesday not to even bother turning them over for speedy deportation because there was no bed space, a top agent said.

The problem, said Brandon Judd, an agent and president of the National Border Patrol Council, is that illegal immigration has surged once again after dipping during the early months of President Trump’s tenure.

That has left the deportation agency, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, struggling to find beds to hold the illegal immigrants. As a result, Border Patrol agents who bring apprehended people to ICE are turned away.”

I have held off on reporting the spike in border crossings I’ve heard about from my contacts at the Border Patrol because I don’t like to report on one month at a time. Seasonality always plays a factor and with warm weather, more illegals make the trip. I have been doing this long enough to realize that the best frequency at which to monitor the numbers is every three months. Doing so shows a trend.

That said, I confirm the information being shared by the WT. There is an increase, and it’s noticeable.

I always give Trump the benefit of the doubt, and so, he needs to respond to this report immediately. I will be sending him a letter this weekend if he does not respond to these claims before then.

Meanwhile, there is a crackdown on MS-13 taking place in my own backyard. I am really confused about what the Trump administration is doing. Why instruct Border Patrol to catch and release at the same time ICE is instructed to go full-court-press to snag gang members? It’s like shoveling sand at the incoming tide, is it not?

This morning, CBS News ran a TV report from Long Island about the efforts to catch and deport gang members.  According to CBS, federal officials will announce a breakthrough in the fight against MS-13 on Thursday. So, we have “catch and deport” in N.Y. and “catch and release” in Texas. Wow…

CBS reports that hundreds of accused gang members and associates are under arrest, but they are quick to note that gang violence is spreading in American neighborhoods.

CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan went to one the deadliest battlegrounds, Long Island, New York. It was reported that 345 arrests have been made on Long Island and in the surrounding New York City area since May.

So, answer this question: “What’s the point of putting members of ICE at risk, catching gang members in New York, when Border Patrol agents are told to release illegal in Texas?” I may not be a rocket scientist, but it makes little sense to me, and it certainly doesn’t help in making America great again.
