BREAKING — It is being reported by several news agencies that at least four U.S. soldiers were shot and killed in an apparent insider attack by an Afghan soldier at a base in northern Afghanistan on Saturday.
“An Afghan soldier shot and killed four American troops inside the base,” said Abdul Qahar Araam, spokesman for the Afghan Army’s 209th Corps. “We are investigating.”
According to reports, the U.S. military command in Kabul confirmed that it was “aware of an incident” at Camp Shaheen, which is the headquarters of the 209th Corps in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif. No further details were provided. This story is developing.
This is the second attack on U.S. Soldiers this month in Afghanistan. Just last week a similar attack took place wounding and killing members of the U.S. military. The Taliban took credit for the attack. Details are available here.
