Seattle-based Amazon.com Inc., which recently solicited proposals from locations interested in hosting the company’s proposed new headquarters, has narrowed their list of prospective locations to 20.
Proposals for the $5 billion project that is expected to create 50,000 jobs were submitted by 238 locations across the U.S. and Canada. While large markets such as New York, Boston, Chicago and Miami are vying for the project, smaller markets such as Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Memphis, Tennessee also submitted proposals, Bloomberg reported.
The finalists include:
– Atlanta, GA
– Austin, TX
– Boston, MA
– Chicago, IL
– Columbus, OH
– Dallas, TX
– Denver, CO
– Indianapolis, IN
– Los Angeles, CA
– Miami, FL
– Montgomery County, MD
– Nashville, TN
– Newark, NJ
– New York City, NY
– Northern Virginia, VA
– Philadelphia, PA
– Pittsburgh, PA
– Raleigh, NC
– Toronto, ON
– Washington D.C.
Amazon plans to continue discussions with the finalist cities and announce a decision regarding the selected location later this year.
