Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), who is set to preside over the impeachment trial of former President Trump, was briefly taken to the hospital Tuesday before being released, his office said in a statement.
Leahy, 80, “was not feeling well” in his Capitol office and was examined by the attending physician, said David Carle, a spokesperson for the Vermont senator. Leahy later left the hospital to return home.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Attending Physician recommended that he be taken to a local hospital for observation, where he is now, and where he is being evaluated,” Carle said.
In a follow-up statement, Carle said, “After getting test results back, and after a thorough examination, Senator Leahy is now home. He looks forward to getting back to work.”
Leahy reportedly began feeling unwell hours after being sworn in to preside over the Senate impeachment trial against Trump.
The report notes that Leahy is third in line after VP Kamala Harris and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to be president.

After being sworn in to preside over this Farce he was feeling butterfhe knows what he’s doing is wrong. Or he came down with a strong sense of guilt. He’s not gonna be able to stay awake through the testimony to even preside over this circus. These trials go on for hours and he’ll need at least four or five naps during the day.
There definitely needs to be term limits. No one needs to be running and making decisions for our country that’s over retirement age. I would think at 75 they would want to be doing something else. However all of them have a pretty cushy job. They don’t work that hard. They get tons of days off, they get unbelievable benefits. Their healthcare is not the same as the Obama care, their retirement is not what normal retirement is, they get a huge pension, if and when they ever retire. And their spouse continues getting their after they die. That’s why most of them are married to younger women.
