The lead singer for alternative rock band Linkin Park, Chester Bennington, has committed suicide.
Law enforcement sources confirm the 41-year-old singer hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. His body was discovered Thursday just before 9 AM. Bennington was married with 6 children.
The singer struggled with drugs and alcohol for years. He had said in the past he had considered committing suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male.
His band was known for popular hit songs such as “Numb” and “In the End,” as well as songs used in the Transformers movies. The band’s most recent album, One More Light, topped the Billboard 200 earlier this year.
