Senate Republicans forced through two of the president’s Cabinet nominees today by changing standard committee rules to go around a Democratic boycott.

With only GOP members present, the Senate Finance Committee pushed through Steven Mnuchin to head the Treasury Department and Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) as secretary of Health and Human Services.

Unanimously, the Republicans agreed to change the existing rules, which normally require at least one member of each party to be in attendance for committee work to proceed.
