WASHINGTON, D.C. — Betsy DeVos, the billionaire GOP donor nominated by President Trump to lead the Department of Education, has faced brutal resistance from Democrats who say she is unqualified for the position.
Today, DeVos faced another voice of resistance, only this time it comes from a Republican. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said Wednesday that she will not vote for DeVos.
“I come to the floor to announce a very difficult decision that I have made, and that is to vote against the confirmation of Betsy DeVos to be our nation’s next secretary of education,” she said from the Senate floor.
