During his Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch publicly stated that the president’s remarks about judges were “disheartening” and “demoralizing.”
In February, a very upset President Trump blasted out a tweet after his travel ban was stopped by a Seattle based judge. Trump referred to the judge as a “so-called judge.” Prior to that, Trump questioned whether a Latino judge overseeing the Trump Univ. case would be capable of treating him fairly.
Gorsuch first criticized Trump’s tweet in a private meeting with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn). But until now he had not commented publicly.
“I know these people, and how decent they are, and when anyone criticizes the honesty or integrity or motives of a federal judge, I find that disheartening and I find that demoralizing,” Gorsuch said Tuesday during his Senate confirmation hearing.
